The Anthology series

The Faber Music Piano Anthology series began in 2016 with The Faber Music Piano Anthology. This collection is presented as a luxury hardback book and features high-quality premium paper, page finder ribbon and ‘The Concerto’ linocut cover image by Cyril Edward Power. Selected by pianist and teacher Melanie Spanswick, the anthology features 78 pieces in progressive order, with favourite classics such as Träumerei (Schumann), Une Larme (Mussorgsky), Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata and Gymnopédie No. 1 (Satie) alongside works from lesser-known composers such as Charles-Valentin Alkan, Martin Peerson, Alexander Ilyinsky, Déodat de Séverac and Samuil Maykapar. It has been praised as “the most beautifully presented anthology - carefully selected pieces allowing some exciting challenge for pianists of all abilities.”

Other titles in the series so far are The Faber Music Soundtracks Piano Anthology and The Faber Music Christmas Piano Anthology, with both books having secured great popularity with pianists of all abilities.

Reception

Reviewer Andrew Eales of pianodao.com praises The Faber Music Piano Anthology series for both its music: “all of the arrangements are both pianistic and genuinely musical” – and production quality: “I audibly gasped at its loveliness! Notation is crystal clear, well-spaced and generously sized… I found myself immediately impressed with the stunning quality… the book more easily stands flat on the music stand, withstands any necessary persuasion to do so, and is built to last.”

He says "The Faber Music Jazz Piano Anthology builds on the quality of its predecessors to deliver a sumptuous and brilliantly conceived book... a pitch-perfect and mouth-watering selection of great jazz tunes, in ambitious arrangements that are stylistically on point... this new book really is another sure-footed winner!"
