Many congratulations to Valgeir Sigurðsson who has won Album of the Year in the Open Category at the recent Icelandic Music Awards, held on the 15th March, for his highly acclaimed album ‘Dissonance’.
‘Dissonance’ is Sigurðsson’s fourth studio album and his first solo release since 2012. It features premiere recordings of three of his large-scale works: No Nights Dark Enough (chamber orchestra & electronics), Eighteen Hundred and Seventy-Five (orchestra & electronics) and the title track, Dissonance (viola da gamba & electronics). ‘Dissonance’ comes highly recommended, combining traditional Western music with airy electronics and sound manipulation.
