In the first place, Autumn Song was a short work for SATB chorus, written in 1968. The words, by Roger Covell, sing of an autumnal Australian landscape still recovering from the devastation caused by summer bushfires. The present arrangement, for strings, was made upon a request from the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Peter Sculthorpe
