Julian Anderson’s Bell Mass, for double SATB divisi choir with organ accompaniment, was written for performance at Westminster Abbey and commissioned by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey, as part of the 450th anniversary of the Abbey’s Collegiate Charter (granted by Elizabeth I in 1560). It was also winner in the choral category of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors 2011 British Composer Award. Critic Martin Anderson said:
‘People should soon be singing this piece up and down this land and many others.’
