Marc-André Hamelin is an acclaimed recitalist and soloist who has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras. His impressive discography numbers more than 60 recordings, encompassing Haydn, Chopin, Liszt, Kapustin, Godowsky, and his own compositions.
Hamelin has composed music for piano throughout his career. In addition to Theme and Variations (Cathy’s Variations), he has written 12 études, Con intimissimo sentimento, and a number of other works. He has also transcribed Zequinha de Abreu’s Tico-Tico No Fubá. Hamelin is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including a lifetime achievement prize by the German Record Critics Association.
