Coogee Funk is a wild and fast paced exploration of funk riffs and rhythms, divided into three core sections. The work opens with a blazing brash fanfare that, after a distant call from an off-stage saxophone quartet, subsides into a drunken nautical seascape. After a series of solos the work charges headlong into a wild funk fugue, coming to a melancholic close by a lonely horn solo.
