Original version for Saxophone Quartet commissioned by the British Association of Symphonic Bands and Wind Ensembles for the Apollo Quartet. Recording by the Apollo Quartet released on 1 May 2024.

 

Programme Notes

 

As the title suggests, it is the fictional island conceived in J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan that inspired Neverland for SATB saxophone quartet. Similarly to this 'utopia’ of an imaginary island where childhood lasts forever, this short work is about always trying to hold onto your inner child, and dreaming about the exciting prospect of never having to grow up…
