Brahms's Op. 34 began life as a string quintet before Brahms transcribed it as a Sonata for 2 Pianos (the version presented here) and then finally as a Piano Quintet (the work's final and most well-known form). Single copy of the score, 2 copies required for performance.

 

Johannes Brahms' Klavierquintett in f-Moll op. 34 war zunächst ein Streichquintett, bevor der Komponist es als Sonate für 2 Klaviere (die hier vorliegende Fassung) und schließlich als Klavierquintett (die endgültige und bekannteste Form des Werks) transkribierte.
