There are several piano works by Debussy that lend themselves admirably to transcription. The timbre of the guitar is sympathetic to the delicacy of expression, and to many subtle graduations of dynamics and tone colour which are so compellingly effective in these works. Julian Bream transcribed two of the most popular from Book I of the Preludes - La fille aux cheveux de lin (The Girl with the Flaxen Hair) and Minstrels.
