'Lovett’s quietly plaintive tonal music echoes the European tradition, from Bach to Satie and beyond, and feels like a soulful elegy for a Britain that has lost its bearings.' The Observer (Stephen Pritchard)
Combining virtuosity and creativity in her own piano works, Anne Lovett’s music has been described as fresh and exciting, akin to a rock or pop concert with the distinctive emotional depth of classical music and has earned her a steady international following.
Anne Lovett was born in Normandie, France. She began piano lessons at the age of three and few years later entered the CNR de Caen with Frederic Aguessy. She then went on to study at the Conservatoire Superieur de Paris with Pierre Reach (a pupil of the great Artur Rubinstein) and Alberto Neuman (a rare student of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli). At the age of just eleven, she was invited to perform in concert at the Festival International d'Annecy, and a year later at the Festival International de Montdauphin.
Anne then moved to the UK to further her education at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Hamish Milne. She also studied composition with Ruth Byrchmore, chamber music with Michael Dussek, and jazz with Dominic Alldis. She holds a Masters degree in Composition from King's College, London. During her academic years, Anne took part in many masterclasses, including those run by Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Roger Muraro, Miriam Solovieff, Andrei Diev, John O'Conor and Rolf Hind.
Since graduating, Anne has performed throughout Europe, in countries including Portugal, Norway, Italy, England, and France, as well as in Brazil, performing as a soloist her own piano music as well as chamber music and contemporary works. She has represented France and the UK in official engagements in both concerts and masterclasses. Her concerts have been broadcasted on Radio France-France Musique, Mezzo TV as well as France 3 and ZDF in Germany.
Despite her classical background, Anne developed a great interest in other musical genres. She studied jazz and improvised music with Samy Abenaim of the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris, and later free improvisation with Keith Tippett. This later led her to collaborate with artists from various avenues from dance to contemporary music as well as commissioned soundtrack work and a collaboration with pop producer James Sanger (Brit Award winner for Keane Hope and Fears, Dido, U2, etc).
Anne is an official KAWAI artist.
